Here is my current tab. I buy the small ones so they stay in place on my middle finger. They are too loose/sloppy with the larger sizes which makes them flop around on that finger. When I’m in hunting/practicing mode my tab stays in place on my hand. Notice how much of my fingertips are exposed. I attribute an excellent, lively real easy to that reason. Because I have trimmed away all the excess, unneeded tab. Over excess tab creates more drag as string tries to rid itself from tab. If you use a deep hook like I do one has to create an explosive release of your fingers holding the string. It is a purposefuL reaction. If not, you are causing too much drag on the string. That is why so many prefer a glove so that the finger stalls are attached to your fingers. But how many Olympic shooters use gloves? They know a better release is obtained by a tab. Also please note how small their tabs are. The different sizes of tabs are for those with huge hands and middle fingers. Have always used a brass nocking point and you don’t see it chewing up my tab that’s has been used for over 15 years. Why you ask? Well I mount the brass nockset so the splice is facing back towards my hand in-line with the arrow. It doesn’t show that in my pictures which were very difficult to take yet show the tab placement on the string. When at full draw my thumb will be down tucked under my jaw and pinky finger will not be touching the string. My hand is basically in a big C shape. I have tried a glove on many instances. So far the best one for me is the old Bear finger glove with exposed finger tips. All of those with full fingers stalls cause my arrows to shoot left(cause my anchor is farther from face and the tip leather thickness from inserted stalls feels wired to me-like I’m not getting the deep hook. Also I like to handle my arrows with my unprotected fingertips that I get from a tab. I will continue to experiment with the open tipped glove but I just can’t see me changing to a closed glove ever. Maybe an open tipped one if I think it is better But after nearly 60 years of using a tab think I’m too old/set in my ways which work excellent for me. You all do what you want! Just posting how well a kantpinch type tab with rubber center spacing removed has worked for me the past 5+ decades. And in a pinch if I ever lose my tab I just use my fingers.
