True story.  I was hunting from within a deadfall on a piece of club property off of Sutton Rd.  At just about dusk a 4 point came within 15 yards and froze.  He was watching the 8 or so does feeding on acorns behind me.  I drew and loosed and the arrow went sailing over it's back.  A few minutes later a doe was standing in the same spot.  I drew and loosed only to see my arrow sail over her.  Neither deer reacted to the shots and went over to feed on the acorns.  Two misses!  Man I stink.  It became too dark to shoot but I had to stay until the feeding deer left.  That took an hour so I decided to look for my arrows in the morning.  Next morning, due to a change in wind, I was hunkered down under a large pine about 40 yards north of the deadfall.  At first light a doe comes walking by.  I took the shot and was rewarded with another miss.  This shot was witnessed by my friend who later walked over to me.  "How could you miss that gimme like that?"  How indeed!  We went to look for my arrows and found all 3 within 8" of each other.  This was 25 years ago but Billy still reminds me that "You'll find your arrows on Sutton Rd."  Frank

Wow Fred you really dragged this one from the annals.  Glad someone found it humorous. Frank

Well, at some time or another, we all miss the gimmes. Between hunting and 3D shoots, I have left bunches of arrows lost in the woods. If lost cedar arrows could sprout into trees, there are several places in Georgia that would have a fine stand of cedar trees.

Might be, Sam, that Georgia would be one big cedar swamp! LOL. Kidding of course, Sam, I've seen you knock the blue out of a gnat's eye at thirty paces!

LB, I thought that was MY pipe dream! I might can hit the blue of the pond if standing on the bank at 3 paces. Two seasons ago, I missed the same buck twice. The first time I shot low, and the next weekend when I shot at him, I went high. These were not necessarily gimmees, but they weren't outlandishly long, either. He was standing in the same place each time.
