Yesterday I decided to grab the bow and go explore some public land that I may try deer hunting next fall. I also hoped to run across some rabbits or squirrels to take a shot at, unfortunately I never saw any of them. I covered a lot of ground and there was a lot of promising deer sign. I will definitely be back to do some more scouting. It was a great day in the woods and I managed to get a few pictures, so I thought I'd share.

Thanks, being out with a bow is definitely one of my happy places! This was in Menominee County in Michigan's U.P.

Aaron, Jim Belcher moved his shop up there. He’s a great guy and builds a really nice longbow.

Aaron, are you seeing any snowshoe bunnies on your walkabouts ? Been wanting to chase some of them. I have a cabin near Ford River, Delta cty.

No, I haven't been seeing much rabbit sign lately. I did see one hollow log they must have been living in, the ground was all trampled and there was a big pile of droppings near the end of the log. The woods were almost eerily quiet the other day, the only animal I saw other than a couple woodpeckers was a ruffed grouse that I flushed. Season is over for grouse though. I think everything was laying low due to a storm that was coming in that night.

I sure do like those pictures. I would love to have a place like that somewhere near me. Neat bow and quiver pics.

Aaron, nice pics. Took a friend bow hunting in the UP a few years back, he normally hunted the west, but thought there was more solitude in the UP. In a week we never saw or heard a sound of human activity, yet saw plenty of game.

Great country!

These days most of my forays afield are limited to stump shooting.  Not that I'm complaining; can't beat a day roving with a good bow.
