I finished up my Hill Style glove last night.  Buffalo leather stalls and stall holder, with a thin leather layer in the stalls.  I used Halo serving for the thread.  I put the end tips of a zip-tie laminated with Barge cement to prevent grooving.

Big shout out to Nate Steen and his guidance in building & sending me the snap and buckle for the glove.  [thumb]

There is just a bit of hand stitching in this one!  I wanted a glove with less on the back of my hand for the hot and humid weather I live in Eastern Texas.

When I was taught to shoot Hill Style at 16 years of age, I learned on a Howard Hill glove that had open ends to feel the tips of your fingers.  I made this one in that style with the tips exposed.  The glove has a softer feel.  I measured the leather and got the thickness I really wanted.  I have a glove that is too stiff and one that is too soft.  Tried to build the Goldilocks glove, just right...

Nice.  I have tried to make a glove a time or two with little luck.  Nice job.

Thanks so much for posting this! Perfect timing. I was planning on making my own glove or at least new stalls out of some cordovan pieces I have around.

That would be great, seriously. There are very few, if any, good how-to's on building a glove.

Great job on that glove.
I have given up buying such style "off the shelf" since nothing really fits my large hands with long slender fingers and skinny wrist.
Was about to see is the Turners at American Leathers could help, but a build-along sounds kind of fun.

That is the only piece of gear I have not made myself. Would enjoy a build alone

Nice Job!  I build my own out of cordovan and build both closed end and open end styles but like you I like the open end better.  I also use cable ties for the stiffener but use wider and thicker section.  I make them a little small but after working them on and shooting for awhile they IMG_0090.jpg  form fit to my fingers for a perfect fit.

A build along would be awesome! I have the same problem with gloves as Horsehide's comment above. Would really like to learn to make my own for a custom fit.
