Has anyone made traditional bow fishing arrows? Aboriginal people did it for hundreds of years so I figured they should work. I have some antler and bone that could easily be used. I have some big carp in my bass bond that have out stayed there welcome.
If anyone has any tips or even doubts please chime in!
Thanks, guys!

All fish arrows are traditional.  I think you mean primitive.  Frank

I made mine out of driveway markers.  Pick out the straightest ones.  Not primitive but pretty economical.

They are 5/16 diameter.  You need to sand the tapers of course, but they come out about the same as commercial fish arrows.

Not primitive, but you can get the slider kits from online suppliers.  I use the driveway marker's too.  File the nock into the fiberglass.  In Colorado the sliders are required by regulation.

You might find some primitive ideas in the Bowyer's Bibles.

Hickory is a tough wood, and heavy. And, if you soak it in wood hardener it could get heavier. Stringy grain and fibers.

I can make you solid Dymondwood arrow shafts that are about as traditional as your going to get with wood and have them water proof.
