I just checked the weather high's 59 degrees and low's 35 degrees. That's perfect hunting and sleeping weather.

RC, Thank you very much for the work and trouble of getting some firewood together, as transporting it across state lines is pretty much a NO,NO, anymore thanks to those little Emerald Ash Borers!
This will be my trial run with my newly acquired Whelen Leanto, as the weather here has been to miserably cold to give it a test run, as -10 and -20 is just look out the window weather.
Its warmed up since those temps. but that work thing just keeps getting in the way of a proper trial run.
Hunting with friends and then telling stories and swapping tall tales around a warm fire in the evenings, it just dont get better than that !
Looking forward to seeing you all!!!

Plan A: Work goes off as is now, which has me making the trek Friday evening, or by daylight Saturday morning, stay till Monday.
Plan B: Work changes and I make it down Thursday....sometime, and stay through Monday.
Plan C: Work implodes and I miss it all together.

I may not know until Thursday prior.

Best I can do at the moment.

Tim

So far there's 11 folds that I know who are going. Last year there was 21, let's see if we can top that. There's lot's of camping space. I just got home from the laundry mat, I wanted to wash my sleeping bag [biggrin]. Tonight, I'll start sharpening my broadheads.

Looks like Dave is bringing Killie and another person. I have to think there are a few more. Heard rumor of Ray Hammond and Squirrelbait coming too. Might just have to see who is in camp when we get there [smile]

Regrettably gents, I am out.... Work has been banging me into the dirt lately and wifey has been going solo at home for too long. I am really disappointed as this was something to look forward owing to how much fun last years event was.

Best wishes to all. Hunt safe - and for God's sake lets get at least one hog on the ground this year! ;-)

Hope you make it Bud. I went to Bullard Creek WMA today , its about 15 miles from the house and got on 11 pigs. I got winded but did get a 30ish yard shot. I shot about 2" low and clean missed. Bullard is the poorest pig hunting WMA around the house. Promising!!RC

It wouldn't be the same without you Bud, but I know stuff happens.

RC, that's good news in deed! I look forward to meeting you and talking pig tactics around a fire soon.

I'm counting the days down, less than 6 for me [smile] and I started packing the other day.

Bud, if I were driving in your direction, you would have a ride.

Repairman is a nice enough fellow. Part is coming from the factory so being on hold isn't the worst thing. I do have heat as long as the temps are mild. Low 20s and below and I'll have to supplement with Kerosene.

I'm an independent fellow so having a ride wouldn't change things hardly. I need to have the ability to return on a moment's notice. Still on hold.....

I WILL be there.  Killie should be there, she has time off work and is gathering her stuff.  Only "if" is her dad's health, but he seems ok for now.  I will also be bringing a friend of ours, Andy who will fit in quite well.  In fact, I got him to drive!  We will be showing up Thursday afternoon and leaving Monday.

Are camping at the same campground area as last year then?  Or do I need to find my way somewhere else?

Bought a new pair of boots yesterday for the swamp.  My bean boots weren't really high enough for the water last year, didn't want to end up in that situation again.

I think I'll have at least one of the bows finished before we leave, and both will be shootable so that I can get a little feedback.

-Dave

Ok folks. I'm donating this pewter pin to the first Hill Ganger to down Mr. Pork Loins during the hunt this year. I intend for this to become an annual tradition. If I get to make it, I'll pin it on whomever it is, but if I do not, I'll ship it to the lucky one.
Very nice, hefty hat or vest pin, MADE IN USA!
Go gettem' !

Tim,

Since I believe there is already a prize for the first pig (tusker broadheads?), perhaps this should be for the largest or something else?  You know, give us latecomers a fighting chance?

Hmmm. Oh well. I must have missed that in the thread someplace. I guess I'll need to come up with a plan B.
