We all know Ira aka Ugly Coyote SoCal. He shares his knowledge with us daily. He shows us archery history like no one else. He also has give aways.
Well he now holds epic status in my book. After seeing my post on the Hickory bow build he sent me a draw knife. Not just any draw knife but one used by archery legend Hugh Rich.
I can't wait for my next build because the bow will have MOJO from the start using such a learned tool.
Ira thank you not only for the tool but for all you do on TAS. Great folks and a great site.
Sitting with my Witherby.
When looking the tool up on line terms like vintage and rare were used. Next week it's going to have to hold its own against some osage.
Ira do you have any other info or pictures of his personnel bows?
Great photos Ira thanks.
Tough SOB snow or shine flannel shirt and jeans.
Jack, I'm sure Hugh used that knife to make many lemonwood and hickory bows for school archery programs. He had contracts with area schools, from grade school to college, to supply archery tackle.
Likely he made his two personal "War Whoop" longbows with it.
No info with these 2 photos, but good chance they are War Whoop bows.
Thanks for sharing! All the sharing. Reading this post was a good way to start the day. Thanks!
That’s very generous! You have a real keepsake Jack.
🙂 about as cool as it gets. Thanks Ira....
Super gesture from a super guy!
A treasured piece of archery history Jack. Mojo for sure. Well done as always Ira.
Ira is certainly a knowledgeable person; he shared some information with me recently that cleared up a question I had. It's good to have him aboard.
