Who are you mentoring? Who do you invest in? Who are you helping to become a better archer, hunter, or person?
I just got back from a trip to IA to visit my family. I got to take my wife and two brothers to go meet my friend Greg (soapcreek). Gregs helped me a lot with my archery journey and my bowhunting. He helped me make my back quiver, he got me started bow fishing, and he gave me the stand and steps I used tonight.
This last month my wife has started shooting. She's a mad woman, I have to stop shooting before her. I never pressured her, I just told her that I would be happy to teach her if she was interested but she had to ask. Well now she wants to shoot all the time.
In the last few years, I've passed all my extra archery gear on to my two brothers. They only shot when I came to visit and the bows on the rack would be thick with dust when I arrived. This time was different tho. They both wanted to shoot and wanted to learn. They asked questions and listened to my advice. I measured their draw lengths and taught them how to bare shaft tune. Taught them the difference between gap nd instinctive and told them to try both and see what works best for them. We had lots of fun, we even rolled pumpkins down the pond dam and shot at them. Before I left both my brothers ordered samick sages. One in #40 and one in #35. Geting either of them to spend money on anything is like pulling teeth so I'm hopeful they are invested now and will get to enjoy the sport.
look at that solid form on the last pic, I asked him how he learned to shoot like that and he said from watching me, which is sweet but a total lie, my form looks so much worse, no way he learned that from me!
My 4 month old daughter is not yet shooting a bow but will be soon! She stayed with grandma and grandpa because it was cold out.
I wanted to say thank you too the members of this community who have been so genourous with their time, materials, and wisdom. I am happy to say I am able to pass it on to others who will hopefully one day do the same.
If you arent investing in someone ask yourself why not.

Tim (14) shooting a #25 fire fox, my first real bow and a Howardhill glove from Clovis6. Me (22) shooting a #42 pronghorn I got from Kelly. Wes (16) shooting an ebay special #32 and a black widow tab from someone on this forum, I think Clovis6 but its been a few years. My wife lauren (21) also shooting an ebay special #30

Hoping all of us take the time and effort to mentor someone else.
Great to get family involved. My wife shoots with me at least once a week. Honestly she has better form than me. My son is across the country so haven’t shot with him in some time now. He buys stuff for me these days. I also use some of his old arrows so I have sorta come full circle.
So glad your wife and brothers came over. I had great time. Was good to meet your wife. Very nice young lady. Your brothers seemed to be very interested. Westley called me later and thanked me for having everyone over to shoot. I told him he's welcome anytime. I hope he takes me up on the offer. Your a good big brother Zaccai and a good friend. Best of luck.

Great pics Z. Greg is a class guy. Nothing better than passing it on and having fun. The pumpkin shoot sounds like fun....lol

Awesome. Having fun, bow in hand, is what keeps you going and what attracts new shooters.
