James, I’ve owned 2 Classic. This will be my first Shelton. I’ll let you know how it compares.

Rick, After I posted the “Dream Hunt Bow” topic. I found a used NM Shelton takedown 55# that would be perfect for traveling to Africa.

Awesome, Darren! The Shelton is my favorite model from Steve's lineup. I think 55# is useful for many, if not most, plains game. Some areas may require 60#. Not sure. In capable hands like yours, a 55# two-piece Shelton makes one heck of a huntin' tool for just about anything on the planet.

I was on the phone with Bisch the other day. He‘s been to Africa 4 times with a 48# bow. I’m confident the 55# with the right arrow and broadhead will do the job. I’ve shot a lot of hogs with a 45# bow and up. The bear I shot was with a 51# bow.

Interesting. You would think it would be there by now. Steve certainly doesn't have a reputation for building slow bows. LOL.
Hang in there, Darren!
