I’ve recently started to attempt gap shooting, second year archer initially learned instinctive.
while gap shooting I realized all my gaps are below point on. -1, -7, -12, -20 inches (15,20,25,30 ft). Everything I’ve seen so far my gaps should be above the target and work down until point on. What am I doing wrong? I’ve got a 50lb basic breakdown recurve give or take 2lbs. It was tuned by an instinctive archer who runs an archery shop in a town I no longer live in.
As stated above, your gap is ok. If you want to close that gap you my want to use and tune your bow for a full length shaft.
Your gaps should be below your bullseye until you get past your point on distance. Farther out from point on, your gaps will be above your bullseye.

Well....what you are experiencing is what everybody else is too. That's the way it works in this game. A suggestion. Find point on. That will depend on how you hold and where you anchor more than anything else. Then, everything farther you either hold higher or anchor lower. Anything closer you either hold lower or anchor higher...to a point. I don't believe you are doing anything wrong, or out of ordinary, just mixing up the game a bit. Look for point on around 35 to 45 yards ( yards, not feet) if you anchor at your mouth.
I have an inclination that my eye is almost perfectly inline with my arrow so there is minimal ark, just drop. I’m only. 1 1/2 - 2 inches above the target at 6yards.
