Here's my personal jig for making strings.
About 8 years ago, I had the opportunity to purchase a dozen or so raw boards, all twins of this one for $15 each.
I was traveling down the Oregon coast and stopped at one of those roadside wood places that sells carving and such. In a dusty corner was about a dozen of these nicely figured planks. Three quarters thick with a live edge on both sides. I didn't know what I'd do with them, but knew I liked them, so I bought two. They sat in my shop for a few years until I walked in one day looking to make my first jig. Presto!

NICE!
Are some of those pegs pop rivets?
You are correct Ira. Stainless steel.
Are these for sale?
John, I make and sell them but I don't have any ready right now. I don't have any of this particular wood left. The ones I make now will look similar to one of these.
They are based on a compact jig plan that's roughly 24 inches long depending on the wood blank.
As Monte Python would say, "And now for something completely different".
Just wanted to show you what a wood hacker does compared to a wood craftsman.
Don't know where the design came from. Probably some magazine article. I made it in the early 1980s. It's longer than the usual board at 43".
In the end, function is what counts.
wowza those are beautiful
Ira, Your board even looks better than mine. I have a 2X4 with a dowel on each end that I use to make endless loop strings.
Jim, Nice work🔥
Very nice, love that Myrtle Wood.
Great looking wood made into a great looking jig, Well done Jim
