First up is the Red Spot. With this one you need to drive your car onto the stringer base. Not that convenient.

Next is from Bear Archery. No car needed. You use your own weight to bend the bow.

Last one is homemade by Roy Hoff, editor of Archery magazine. He based his design on the Red Spot stringer. Could be a problem if there are no trees around. Phone pole or lamp post maybe? He did state not to stand directly in line with the bow. He said the woven strap could be worn as a belt. At least you know where it is. From Archery, February 1960.

What a String with a cup on the end wasn't complicated enough! LOL
That one looks a little scary to me!!!!!

I found another one from 1968. Davey Davis stringing his Drake flight bow at Walt Wilhelms in Yermo, CA.
I built one like the Bear factory of old had, onto a cabinet in my shop. You need to get past the worry about breaking limbs, but it works great. Not very portable though. So far i only use it for recurves cause longbows are strung before i can even think about it using the old manual way.
I know a bowyer, Bob Sarrels, who has one like the red spot in his shop. Only It is mounted to the end of a cabinet, and you don’t have to have a car. It is very handy and works great.

My wife has me to string her bow. lol I could see her using the one in the top picture.
