If you look up ancient Turkish bows, you will see examples like Dr. Grayson's and the ones in the Jessop collection. I believe Dr. Grayson's referral to contemporary was that the bow was recently built and not an antique.

I actually got to handle one, very much like the one in your picture, from the Jessop Collection in San Diego. They're a little hard to see in mine.
