I was wondering how often most of you get a chance to shoot.
When I lived in the upper midwest I shot on average 3-4 days a week from June till our bow season opened on October 1. After that I would shoot a couple arrows each time out hunting, either after I got done hunting in the morning or before I started hunting in the afternoon.
Two years ago we moved a couple states south where the winters are not near as bad and now I find myself shooting on average at least 4 days per week year around. Even when I come in from hunting I shoot for maybe 10 minutes before I put things up.
I find it’s therapeutic to me and improves my mood along with relieving stiffness in my muscles that seems to happen much more as I age. Even my wife sometimes tells me I need to get my crabby butt outside and shoot a few arrows lol
Try to sling a few everyday inside or outside.
I used to shoot for 6 hours in a day, not in a row, one needs the occasional potty break. The last 10 years or so, my shooting stints out back have been two to three hours.
In the winter because I get off until dark, we shoot on the weekend but the rest of the year it's almost daily.
I shoot most everyday year round. I even have a bag target I can shoot inside when the weather is too bad. I stump shoot when I’m going to and from my stand. Makes the 65#s easy to pull. I think shooting often is better than taking long breaks and then starting back. When I did this I’d have shoulder pain sometime, shooting everyday I don’t. And obviously you cant shoot 6 hours in a row, 30 min to an hour a day works for me.
After my wrestling match with my BMW and my bicycle in my garage, both bicep tendons in my shoulders and the T5 and T6 juncture went bad, I had to back off. When I am healthy, i shoot everyday from 200 to 300 arrows. We will see what next spring brings, but I do workout in the winter to keep my strength up.
I also shoot almost everyday. I'm starting to think it's too much. I have sore arm muscles almost all the time.
I'm out back shooting pretty much every day.
I like the snow also. Especially after a new batch of arrows. 😊
I shoot almost daily year round in my basement. Attend a lot of 3-D shoots throughout the year as well, though there aren't as many of them during the winter. I usually take a few practie shots while hunting. .
I totally agree; even though I live in snow country I still try to shoot everyday. I can shoot about 20 feet in my shop, and 8-10 shots/day keeps my muscles tuned. I think thats why even at almost 82 years I can still handle 60#.
