I have noticed for years that many of the pictures of Howard Hill show him without a hat, even in hunting photos. I realize that many pictures were for publicity purposes, which might preclude a head covering, but many looked like genuine field shots still bareheaded. Also, he seemed to often wear light colored clothes without any camo at all. Was that how he actually hunted?

I would like to read the rest of that interview, can you provide the publication and date?
The camo he wears appears to be homemade in the photos.
I stated earlier that Hill never wore camo. I stand corrected. I saw a old photo of hin and Bob Swinehart on a whitetail trip. He had on a camo sweat shirt. He was pretty old at the time of the photo.
Bobcat camo
I have seen a picture of HH when he was hunting in Utah wearing a knit pull down hat.
I saw a picture somewhere of him wearing homemade camo kinda looked like tie-dyed. He mentions a Bobcats camo in his book as a example.
Howard Hill did not wear camo at all. He usually wore soft non reflective clothes like fannel and wool. I have only seen one picture of him wearing a hat on a hunt. That occurred on his famous hunt in Wyoming.
