Got a request yesterday from an estate manager to come out and try to shoot a flock of "nuisance" Canada geese that have taken up residence around a large decorative pond they have built. In addition to generally trashing the place, they are also harassing the expensive swans that were imported to provide amnbiance. (Yeah, some people do live like this.) Because of the location, no shotguns are allowed to be used so my wife Brynnen, and I are going to give it a go with our bows when the season actually opens later this year.
Have watched a number of YouTube videos of people attempting to shoot geese. It appears to vary from super easy with a compound out to 50-60 yards to next to impossible with a longbow or recurve inside of 20 yards. There also appear to be widely varying perpectives on broadheads (turkey head-shot style or large typical fixed blade). Curious if anyone in this group has tried hunting geese and what advice or lessons learned you might be able to share. There is not a lot of cover near the pond, so I'm wondering if putting a blind up now that they could ge used to would be an effective approach.
