I know there was a post about this on the old site... what do you use to polish your bow? I know a bunch of people like a type of guitar polish but I forget which one.

use Johnsons paste wax-was designed for hard wood floors- scratch resistant
at times I put a light coat on when comming in from shooting ,then buff out that evening
great for resisting light scratches and reapplication buffes them away

Well you don't wax your bow and take it out hunting. Wax it upon return. The smell will dissipate over night so you could hunt the next day without worry. Frank

The wax smell dissipates after a while. I don't wax my bows often, but will occasionally put a coat of car wax on them, usually in the spring.

Ok, maybe I'm over thinking it. But when I wax my truck my garage smells like the beach! I'm assuming there's no scent issue for those that hunt with waxed bows?

Just kick back and wait for those bucks to show up eithe their lounge chairs and sunglasses. :)
I occasionally hit mine with pledge cause it helps clean them up. Other than that they are well protected by their finish.

Guitar wax polishes and shines when buffed with a cloth.. Same as furniture wax.

When I use to go hunting a lifetime ago I never had the clouding problem, even on cold, damp mornings. First I heard of it.

"Pledge" is highly protective, easy to use, doesn't smear or cloud, and easy to acquire. I've been using it for almost 60 years - great stuff!

Fred, Pledge is what I used before I switched to auto wax. Pledge clouded up pretty good in damp weather. At least for me it did. That was in the 80's. Perhaps they changed the formula since then. Regardless, I'll stick with my auto wax. Frank

Auto wax will not cloud in damp weather or rain. Johnson's and guitar wax are indoor wax and will cloud. Been there done that and switched to auto wax. Frank

A coat of wax helps to protect the finish, makes it easier to clean the bow if you get it muddy crashing around in the woods and makes your bow look good. Depending on the wax, you can apply it and not buff it and the hazy coating will temporarily dull a shiny finish.

May I ask what’s the reasoning behind waxing a bow? I’ve never heard of this before.

Another vote for Johnson paste wax. Also good on firearms.

You can use Guitar wax, Fender has a pump spray bottle. Works very well. Paste wax is another good option.
