Picked up a bow the other day that I’ve been looking for since 2004. This a “gull” by archery traditions and it was designed by dan quillian. This is the bow he took his last grizzly with I believe. I’ve heard these existed but never seen one in person and have only seen a few pics.…. well I stumbled across one the other day. 72” 55@28 and wild looking lol

I still have a shooting instruction 'VCR' video by DQ. Never had or shot one of his bows...the riser designs were too much like a very long recurve to suit my fancy...but Dan was fun to watch/listen to and a good shot. He was a good ole' boy and wasn't bashful about saying what he thought based on actual experience, I liked that about him.
72”? Bet that puppy shoots sweet ! Great looking bow mate. Always interested in Quilans … he was one of the bowyers I use to see ads fir when I was a kid
I am definitely a big fan of Dan Quillian. I have owned 4 Bamboo Longhunter bows and still have 3 of them. I got my first longbow from him after a long absence from archery. I had been thinking about picking up the bow again and happened to see a magazine with the picture of somebody shooting a longbow on the cover. On impulse, I bought it and tossed it aside without really looking closely at it. After a while my son, who was in Middle School, asked me where Athens, GA is. He had seen an ad for Archery Traditions. Immediately, I took it and my interest was really peaked. On the next Saturday I called Dan to talk about his bows. He suggested that I go to his house, since he was working out of his home at that time. Since Athens is only about 60 miles away, I hopped in the truck and was on my way. I left his house with a new bow, a dozen arrows, an arm guard, and a tab. All was set, and I never looked back.
I want to share one piece of advice Dan gave me that was very valuable, and I think it will help some of the newer members. While shooting in his yard I lost an arrow and was very concerned about it. He told me not to worry about it saying, "Don't fall in love with your arrows, because you ain't gonna have them that long". He explained that if you are shooting as much as you should, a lot of arrows will be lost or broken. That's just part of the price of learning archery.
That's a beautiful bow Justin.
Had to get out the steel wool and polish. Talk about a fun bow to shoot! I really really like this one !
I've never seen that one before. Jeffrey archery made alot of bows for him. He and Owen were pretty tight.
Also how long is the riser over all from fade out to fade out ?
That's a first for me ! Love it !!
It Shoot pretty good Justin ?
