Not so much a metaphor, but, since deer do not have middle fingers, the only way they can flip you off is to turn their butt at you and stick their tail straight up.

... and you had the fortitude to stop and take a picture of the arrow before grabbing it up in frustration. I read somewhere that predators are successful only 1 in 4 attacks. So if creatures like eagles and tigers have that much trouble killing, it should be no surprise that we do to.

Yep. Me too. Bummer. Luckily, the deer wasn't hurt as a result of my mental melt down. And I've only been at this 60 plus years. Go figure, but I'm not done yet.
