Edwin "Nubbie" Pate only had one leg, but it didn't stop him from doing things those with two good legs could only envy.
I'll let you read about him in the article from issue 13 of The Traditional Archery Digest and his California Archery Hall of Fame resume.
I believe it's safe to assume he would have liked being remembered for all the Desert Shoots he put on.
Some of the targets at the Desert Shoots required a little dexterity , balance and luck.
My favorite was the stump shot where you stood on one leg, on a stump with your unstrung bow. You had to string your bow, shoot at the target, hopefully not falling off the stump, against a stop watch. Details are in the article.
This is the best pic of Nubbie and here it's on the back cover of Hugh Rich Archery catalog No. 7

Great write up Ira, on a great archer.
Thanks for sharing :)
For sure 👍
Thanks Ira, we have lots of heroes in our 'archery history'; We can't seemed to get enough 'reading material' or pictures to 'smile at'. Always a pleasure reading about Nubie.

As always Ira, thanks for your articles from Hugh Rich featuring Nubbie Pate. Must of been a heck of a blast to attend these special shoots.

The resume has an error. In the next to last paragraph, the date should be 1949, not 1929.
