Back in May, I asked our members like I always do to submit their vote for the 2023 Honoree.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that G. Fred Asbell received the mosts votes!
Unfortunately, Fred passed and I won’t be able to present him with a plaque from our members but I like to think he would have accepted this honor and is smiling down at us.
G. Fred Asbell was a Bowhunter, Author, and Archery Hall of Fame Recipient.

On a forum called trad talk there are a bunch of string crawlers that crawled all over Fred a couple of weeks ago. How people that mostly just shoot at short range targets with very light bows would think that they have the right to critisize someone for something that they could never do is telling and remarkable. I personally knew guys that followed Fred's videos and it helped them succeed at shooting deer from treee stands. It is not quite Hill style but it did help them.

I met Fred at a Black Widow seminar some years ago now. I was there for more of a fun thing than to learn about archery. But he showed me a couple of important things I did wrong like torquing the string that helped me. I really appreciated his personal attention. He will be missed
