2nd try at this question. I have an Indian bighorn that I want to shoot. previously had a rest. If I put a radiused rest on it would it be sufficient? If so, should I put the raised part in the center of shelf or toward the rear?
i assume you want to shoot off the shelf? When I have a flat shelf like that i put a piece of toothpick under the material I use (Velcro). I do as long cruise says and put it in line with deepest part of grip. Even a stick on rest should align like that.
Thinking out loud... do some recon. Put an arrow on the string and let it rest on the bow. Just, pay attention where it touches. See how it was built.
As above, i tend to place a side plate and rest such that it is above the pivot point on the handle. If...you were to put torque on that handle when you shoot, having the contact points directly above allows them to move the least from shot to shot.
That said.....folks have shot from fingers up front and overdraws out back and the arrow still flies.
Put the raised parts of both the rest and the strike plate directly in line with the deepest point of the grip.
makes sense, thank you
